Money anxiety rarely arrives when you are busy — it waits for the quiet: the moment before sleep, the beep of the card machine, the envelope on the mat. This 10-minute guided meditation is here to calm that financial stress in your body, settle a racing mind, and remind your nervous system that in this moment you are safe.
Today we use the extended exhale, sometimes called the one-to-two breath, where the out breath is twice as long as the in breath. It is a simple, powerful way to press the body's own brake pedal through the vagus nerve — because money worry lives in the future, but the breath lives in the body, and the body is always here.

It usually arrives in the quiet, not when you're busy, not when you're moving. It waits for the gap, the moment before sleep, the moment the card machine beeps and you look away, the moment an envelope lands on the mat. A number arrives in your mind and your whole body answers it. Just shallow breath, that cold drop in the stomach, like a lift falling one floor.
Here is what I want you to know before we begin anything. The worry is about money, but what you're feeling in your body right now is not about money. It's your nervous system doing its oldest job, trying to keep you safe. And that, my friend, we can work with.
Today we are calming the money worry. Hi there. I'm Martin, this is calming anxiety. I'm a clinical hypnotherapist, a former paramedic, and for the next 10 minutes you have nothing to solve.
If today lands for you, everything I've ever recorded lives in one place. Within the anchored app, over 3,000 sessions, just one voice. And it remembers exactly where you left off. So if you drifted off halfway through last night session, it's still waiting for you at that spot.
No hunting, no scrolling. Just press play and carry on. Now, let's put this down for a while. Let all yourself sit all lying down, either is fine.
Allow your shoulders to drop, unclench your jaw. And if it feels safe, let your eyes close. Today we are using the extended exhale. Some people call it the one to two breath because the out breath is twice as long as the in breath.
And here's the one line of science and it matters. Your heart speeds up a little on every in breath and then it slows down on the out breath. That's not a fault, it's its design. So when you take the out breath and make it longer than the in, you are pressing the body's own brake pedal.
And the vagus nerve carries that signal and the message it sends is simple. We are not in danger. Money worry lives in the future. The extended out breath lives in the body and the body is always, always here.
Let's begin. Through the nose on the in breath and out through slightly parted lips on the out breath. Ready? Let's begin.
Breathe in two, three, four, exhale, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Breathe in two, three, four, breathe out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Don't force the length. If eight feels like a stretch, just take six. The ratio matters more than the number. Ready?
One more round. And this time on the out breath, let your shoulders come down with it. Breathe in two, three, four, breathe out, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight.
Now let the breath go back to its own rhythm and notice, just notice. The numbers didn't change in the last two minutes, but something inside you did. That's the part you have control over and that's the part we're working on today. And in this moment of stillness, of kindness to all that you are, visualize these words in your mind, taking note of the color, the shape.
Then after me, either silently or feel them on your tongue and let the echo of them become part of all that you are. I am safe in this moment. Any worry is a feeling in my body.
It is not a fact about my future. I can be calm and still be responsible.
I release the financial stress I have been carrying in my body.
I have survived every difficult day so far, every single one.
I do not have to solve this today.
I have survived 100% of my worst day.
And now, just feel your breathing with your thoughts. The way on the in-breath your chest expands and rises, the subtle shift in feelings, that moment of stillness between the in and the out-breath and then as you breathe out, the wonderful beauty, the pleasure, the joy, the release of every exhalation, relax deeply with it, find your balance and calm within deeper and safer with every out-breath, with every heartbeat. I can be calm and still be responsible.
I release the financial stress I have been carrying in my body.
I have survived 100% of my worst days.
Not tomorrow, I will act with a clear head and a steady chest.
To carry these thoughts of balance and clarity with you, here are today's three daily caring tips. One, choose one fixed ten minutes slot today to look at your finances and keep the worry inside that window, outside it you are off duty. Two, write down the single smallest money action you could take this week and do only that one thing. And three, move your body for ten minutes before you open any bill or banking app so that your nervous system is already steady when you look.
Now softly and gently bring your awareness back to the space around you. Wiggle your fingers and then your toes. Take a slow deep breath in through the nose, hold and then as you breathe out stretch out the arms and legs and when you are ready, open your eyes. Thank you.
Thank you so much for taking care of you today, for putting your faith in trust in all that I do in calming anxiety. If you would like more of this, the whole library at free, picking up exactly where you left off, that's anchored and it's waiting for you whenever you need it, even if it's simply to support the work I do. And if today really helped, please share this episode with one person who's been quiet lately about their money worries, it's the loneliest worry there is and it shouldn't be. Take care my friend, truly.
As we've got this and we can become the best versions of ourselves, you're doing better than you think. I'll be here again tomorrow, so smile often, positive thoughts whenever you can and then to yourself. Be kind.
