Calming Anxiety
Anxious for No Reason - Nothing Is Wrong With You - 10 Minute Guided Meditation
Nothing happened today. Nobody was unkind to you, nothing went wrong, no letter came and no bad news arrived. And yet here it is — that low humming unease sitting just underneath your ribs, the feeling of waiting for something without ever being told what. Then comes the second thing, which is almost worse than the first: the voice that says there is no reason for me to feel like this, so what is wrong with me? Nothing, my friend. Nothing is wrong with you.
Today's breath is simple and basic — in through the nose for four, hold for two, out through the mouth for six. From there we move into a set of gentle affirmations for free-floating anxiety, built around one idea: your nervous system is not broken, it is only overprotective. Hosted by clinical hypnotherapist and former paramedic Martin Hewlett, every day, ten minutes, for whatever you have walked in here carrying.

Nothing happened today. Nobody was unkind to you. Nothing went wrong. No letter came, no phone call, no bad news. Yet still, here it is. At low, humming unease, sitting just underneath your ribs. That feeling of waiting for something without ever being told what. And then comes the second thing, which is almost worse than the first. The voice that says, "There is no reason for me to feel like this." What's wrong with me? Nothing, my friend.
Nothing is wrong with you. Anxiety doesn't always come with a reason attached. Sometimes the alarm is simply still ringing, long after whatever it was that set it off. So today, we're not going to hunt for the cause. We're just going to turn the alarm down. This is anxiety for no reason. Free floating anxiety. And this is your ten minutes. Welcome. This is calming anxiety. I'm your host Martin, clinical hypnotherapist, former paramedic, every day, ten minutes, for whatever you've walked in here carrying. Now, if you often feel like this and can't quite put your finger on why, there's something in our app, Anchored, that I think would genuinely help you. It's the instant calm. If you just download it, the free version as well, it works as often as you want, offline, it's baked into the program itself. It's there to help in moments like this. There's a link in the show notes, iOS today, and then Android next month. Why not download it? And then if you don't mind, give it a review. Let's settle you in. Loosen your shoulders. Let your jaw go loose. Relax. Today's breath, simple and basic. Breathing in through the nose for four. Holding for two. And then out through the mouth for six. Reading my friend. Breathe in two, three, four. Hold two. Breathe out. Two, three, four, five, six. Breathe in two, three, four. Pause two. Relax. Two, three, four, five, six. And just unwind. Deal the surface beneath you, supporting you. But with every out breath, just allow all the muscle fibers to loosen, to lengthen and truly let calm and peace flow over every fiber of your being. And then one small. Follow me. Breathe in two, three, four. Hold two. Relax. Two, three, four, five, six. Deeper and deeper into a natural trance like state with every out breath, with every word I say. Relax my friend. Now let your breathing find its own natural, peaceful rhythm. And within the beauty of your imagination, within the space between the breaths, visualize these words, see them as I say them. And either repeat them out loud or whisper them in your thoughts. I do not need a reason to be kind to myself. The healing anxious for no reason does not mean something is wrong.
My nervous system is not broken, it is only overprotective. I can feel anxious and still be completely safe. I do not have to solve this tonight. I only have to soften. I release what I cannot name. Now feel your breathing with your beautiful mind to be aware of the shifting sensations within and around your chest, your ribcage as you breathe in, to be mindful of the moment between the in and the out breath. And then as you breathe out, you truly allow yourself to drift, to release further and further down.
And then once more, within the beauty of your thoughts, I do not need a reason to be kind to myself. My nervous system is not broken, it is only overprotective. The healing anxious for no reason does not mean there is something wrong.
I can feel anxious and still be completely safe. I do not have to solve this tonight. I only have to soften. I release what I cannot name. I am calm, I am hell and I am here. And within this moment of peace, of reuniting mind, body and soul. Here are your three daily caring tips. One, when the anxiety has no obvious cause, check the simple things first, water, food, sleep, because the body often speaks before the minders. Two, write one line in an notebook each evening about how the day felt so that over a few weeks you can see the pattern instead of the mystery. Three, take a ten minute walk outside without your phone and let your eyes rest on things that are far away. Now gently start to bring your awareness back into the room, wiggle your fingers, now wiggle your toes. Feel the weight of your body again and the air upon your skin. Breathe in, home and as you exhale stretch out the arms and in your own time there is no hurry that your eyes open. You didn't need a reason to feel it my friend and you didn't need a reason to see that either you just did. If today help come and find more within Anchored, do the daily check-ins, four seconds that's all and let it start showing you the shape of your own weeks. And if you know somebody who says I don't even know what's wrong with me, someone who feels it and can't explain it, please share this episode with them. It might be the first time anyone has told them there's nothing wrong with them at all.
Have a lovely day truly. You are safe, you are here. There is nothing to fear right now.
I'll be with you again tomorrow, so in everything until then, smile often, positive thoughts when you can and to your soul be kind.
